Fair Trade Ways are walks between Fair Trade communities - we will tackle 91 miles Garstang to Keswick & the 50m circular route in Bradford
Having been involved in campaigning for fair trade since 2005 I spearheaded the campaign to Keep KitKat Fairtrade in summer 2020. I am currently Chair of the Fairtrade National Campaigner Committee - working with the thousands of grassroots campaigners for trade justice around the UK.
In February 2022 I took part in the Fair Trade Walk in London - a three hour dive into the historical places around central London which have a connection to the history of the global trade in sugar, tea, coffee and chocolate.
In May 2022 I embarked on the 91 mile Fair Trade Way from Garstang - the world's first Fair Trade Town to Keswick, joined by fair trade campaigners from far and wide.
In July 2022 we will tackle the 50 mile circular Fair Trade way around Bradford over two weekends with local campaigners and walking groups joining in.
This is part of the wider Chocolate Has A Name July crowdfunder which has a target of £3,000.
Chocolate is a multi billion pound industry but so little of that money ends up with the farmers and workers who grow the cocoa. We want to change that, to give a name and a voice to the people who work so hard to bring us our favourite sweet treats, because Chocolate has a name, a face and a story.
