Aim

Walking 14.4 miles from Waffle Axminster to Waffle Lyme to raise funds for our vital community work!

Our brilliant staff and volunteers are putting on their fancy dress and lacing up their boots to walk 14.4 miles between our two Waffle Houses in Axminster and Lyme. Every penny raised goes directly towards our Community Check In programme, providing vital welfare check-ins for the local residents who need us most.

What is the Community Check-ins Project?

The Community Check-ins Project is designed to help people feel heard, supported, and connected before challenges become overwhelming.

It begins with a friendly face-to-face conversation with a member of the Waffle team, giving individuals or families the chance to talk openly about areas such as wellbeing, relationships, finances, housing, or wider life pressures in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Rather than being a one-off interaction, the project creates ongoing points of contact and communication, helping people feel supported as situations develop and change.

Following this, the Waffle team brings relevant information and agreed actions into a fortnightly multi-agency Community Check-ins meeting, where trusted professionals and local organisations work together to advocate for the person and explore the best support available.

One of the project’s greatest strengths is the strong working relationships built between community groups, charities, and statutory services, allowing support to be more joined-up, personal, and effective.

While the project often supports people during difficult seasons, it is equally focused on offering early help, encouragement, and practical guidance before challenges reach crisis point.
