Wigan Athletic Community Trust's Christmas Appeal

Join Wigan Athletic Community Trust this Christmas and help them tackle loneliness across the Wigan Borough.

What we're raising money for:

Following the success of last year's appeal, the club's official charity are working with the Official Wigan Athletic Supporters Club to support those at risk of isolation over the festive period with the delivery of Christmas care packages.

During lockdown and the COVID-19 pandemic Community Trust staff helped hundreds of people across the borough by providing phone calls, garden gate visits and vital support packages.

Thanks to the fantastic fundraising efforts of supporters last year, over 300 festive care packages were also delivered to those at risk of isolation over Christmas. 

The initiative was backed by all members of the club with first team players helping to deliver packages and Community Trust staff ringing people on Christmas Day too.

Rosemary Charles (pictured below) was one of many recipients of a Christmas care package last year. 

"A huge thanks for the visit and the parcel, I can’t begin to tell you how much it lifted my spirits.

“The support I’ve had during the pandemic has been a lifesaver. With the phone calls they always seemed to time it when I felt down because I was shielding but the overall support has made a real difference to me.”

Your support

We're asking Latics fans and members of the community to help us combat loneliness this Christmas with a donation of £5. Thanks to the match funding of the National Emergencies Trust (NET), your donation to our appeal will be doubled! Pledge £5 and we will receive £10 towards the appeal!

What your donation will help with?

• £5 will help towards regular phone calls
• £10 will help towards regular phone calls and a festive care package
• £25 will help towards regular phone calls, garden gate visits and a festive care package

What is match funding?

Between Wednesday 17th November and Wednesday 15th December, The National Emergencies Trust will match any donations to the appeal pound for pound. Pledge £5 and your donation to the appeal will be worth £10, pledge £15 and we will receive £30 and so on!

The National Emergencies Trust (NET) teamed up with Crowdfunder in September 2021 to make more than £1.2m match funding available to help voluntary and community organisations in the UK overcome the effects of the pandemic. 

Crowdfunder has waived the platform fee for our Christmas campaign, however there is a 2.4% fee plus 20p per transaction and VAT applicable by Stripe, the platform's payment provider.
