Residents of Calderdale deserve to have the option to vote Green when the General Election is held on July 4th.

Green voices are needed across the UK to provide real hope and real change. We have the right people to speak up for us in Kieran Turner and Martin Hey.

Calderdale's first ever Green Party councillor, Martin Hey (pictured right) is now standing in the Halifax constituency at the 4th July general election. A truly local candidate, Martin was born in Ovenden and now lives in Northowram. He's now a prominent member of the Calderdale Climate Action Partnership and leads the Green Party on Calderdale Council. Martin says “The Green Party offers real hope for real change, with sustainable policies that will progressively reduce poverty and homelessness and increase everyone’s quality of life. At the Local Elections we finished second behind Labour in the eight wards that comprise the Halifax constituency, and there’s a good chance that we achieve our best ever General Election result in Halifax on 4th July.”

Kieran Turner, our candidate for Calder Valley, (pictured left) lives in Walsden, and has campaigned on social justice and environmental issues throughout his life. After a career in humanitarian aid, he has wide experience ranging from flood management, through healthcare provision, to negotiations with governments. He says, “A strong Green showing at the General Election will be crucial, to ensure that if Labour wins, they will not be complacent or scared to make the changes we need for a sustainable future.”

We need to raise at least £1,000 before the General Election to ensure we can fund our candidate deposits. Any extra cash will be used to campaign in both the Halifax and Calder Valley constituencies.

  • Your donation allows our Green candidates for Parliament to challenge the old parties;
  • If we retain our deposits, those funds come back and can be spent by the Green Party again, so we can keep building strength both locally and nationally.

The Green Party cannot rely on big donors like the other parties so we appreciate any help from members and supporters. Please help us by chipping in £20, or whatever you can afford, to help get us over the line.

Are you ready to support us?

As we are a political party we are required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website. All donations go to local Green Party funds.
