- The voidspace is an arts organisation dedicated to interactive arts of all kinds. We started life as an online zine giving a platform to writers to experiment with interactivity - that is reader agency or other ways for the reader to interact or make choices about the text other than just reading it - in their writing.
Issue 9 of the zine comes out in January 2024, and will be out second anniversary edition. In between main editions we run participatory writing community happenings encouraging writers to interact with a wide range of prompts and tools.
The zine is free to read and can be found here:

We have never charged submission fees and never will, and work hard to make the zine accessible to all.
It occured to us that so many of the artistic endeavours we are passionate about - games, interactive fiction and other writing, live art, interactive theatre, dance and music - all share an interest in interactivity at their core, but that these different worlds do not talk to each other.
As such we started voidspace dispatches, a free community resource bringing together interviews with different interactive creators, interactive events listings and play at home experiences.

We wish to take this ambition - to bring together different strands of interactive art under one roof - a stage further, by putting on a one day festival in London in summer 2024.
The festival will give participants a choice of interactive performances to discover, and a range of games and other self directed interactive experiences to share in the cafe.
Performances secured so far include an interactive haptic dance project, an interactive musical piece, a collaborative narrative experience and a small group game interrogating a live actor as a jury. There are some names you will recognise in our programme. If we can raise enough funds we may be able to add more.
The aim is to get creators and audiences meeting each other, and creating shared experiences together that everyone will remember long after the day is done.
We want to run the festival fairly - paying artists union rates or better, without tickets becoming prohibitively expensive. Quite frankly, we need extra funds in order to make this happen.
This project is not being run for profit - every penny raised will go back into the project, to ensure pay is fair, bring a variety of programming to the festival, and (if there is anything left over) act as match funding as we apply for funding to scale up the festival in 2025 and beyond.
If you'd like to help voidspace live get off the ground, you will be a friend of the void forever.
The voices in the walls love you! 🖤🖤🖤
