We are a small charity based in Brighton supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrants, including those with no recourse to public funds. 

 ****Thank you so much everyone! We smashed our original target in 24 hours. Our new target for this campaign is £5000, enough money to keep our food bank running for nearly 4 months. Please keep sharing and donating – every penny goes towards our weekly food bank and we need all the support we can get to keep this project running and expand to meet demand!*****

Our vulnerable refugee & migrant clients are already marginalised and isolated and many are effectively excluded from access to mainstream services and have no recourse to public funds as a result of the government's hostile environment policies. Many also have underlying health and mental health issues as a result of trauma, conflict, physical injury and the anxiety of living in immigration limbo. Some are homeless. Many have families. Most are currently very scared.

We are raising money so that we can urgently adapt our services and continue to provide food and essentials, toiletries, tech devices and mobile data. We have seen 100% increase in demand for our food bank service and are now delivering emergency supplies and culturally appropriate food to people who are self-isolating and in danger of going hungry.

There are two weeks left on our fundraiser, but we all know the effects of this pandemic are going to be harsh and long lasting. Please donate all you can to see us through this summer and out the other side. 

Here is an extract of a case study from our food bank and destitution caseworker: 

• Nadia (not her real name) fled the Sudanese regime in 2018, coming to the UK to seek asylum. Sudan has a horrific human rights record and Nadia thought she would finally be safe when she reached the UK. Sadly, two years on the system has failed her and her son, who was born at Royal Sussex Hospital. Her claim for protection has yet to be decided, despite a commitment to make a decision in 6 months, and the Home Secretary has refused her any financial support. The coronavirus crisis has made life harder for everyone, but people like Nadia have lost what little support they had.
  
  We believe it is more important than ever to help people like Nadia. Through our new food bank delivery service we can provide her with weekly food parcels and essential items like nappies and baby food so that her anxious wait for refugee status is that little bit easier.
