Aim

Help Asiya, à black trans woman, avoid deportation.

Dear friends,

I recently moved to a new city and started a new school that has been everything I’ve ever wished for. I moved there with some savings and hope that I’ll get a job and start work immediately. You always hear about how easy it is to find a job in London as someone is always hiring. It wasn’t easy for me. My school schedule meant most of the jobs that wanted to hire me couldn’t because I was unable to work on certain days. This meant I had to be unemployed for months while having to pay my rent and support myself on the savings I had kept aside to renew my visa. I finally have a temporary job that has allowed me to continue supporting myself but I’m still in a tough financial position. I have rent, school tuition, transitioning medical fees and the visa renewal to pay for. The visa renewal is important to me as I’m not in a position where I could just go back home. As an African trans woman, I come from a country where it’s a law to imprison people from the queer community for 14 years. I cannot just go home because to do that, I would have to detransition. Transitioning has changed my life and that is something I cannot stop now. I cannot imagine life without hormone replacement treatment. I’m here to ask for help in any way you can offer it no matter how little because it can go a long way for me. I have just a bit over a month before my visa expires and this is my last resort to be able to pay for it. Thank you so much for your help. Any donations and reposts will be greatly appreciated.
