Aim

Adapt Sutton and Epsom Rugby Club to make it accessible and inclusive for VI Rugby.

Who are we?

Visually Impaired Rugby (VI Rugby) is the UK’s national programme for players with sight loss. We adapt the traditional game to create a fast, safe, and fully inclusive version of rugby — giving players with varying levels of vision the opportunity to experience the sport we love.

Born from a desire to break barriers, VI Rugby empowers individuals through teamwork, confidence, and community. From grassroots sessions to international tournaments, we’ve built a movement that’s about far more than sport — it’s about belonging.

Why are we crowdfunding?

2026 marks a huge year for us  – VI Rugby turns 10 years old -  and we are expanding regional teams, growing participation, and making the sport more accessible nationwide.

We’re crowdfunding to:

  • Launch new VI Rugby hubs and training sessions across the UK.
  • Provide inclusive and specialist areas for players.
  • Enhance tournament experiences, from safe playing environments to accessible venues and technology.

We are working with Sutton and Epsom Rugby Football Club (SERFC), the current home of the Southern Spartans VI Rugby team, and the England Squad, to ensure that we have a space that can facilitate all of this and more. Through donating to this campaign, you will help fund the necessary adaptations which will give us an accessible, inclusive home for VI Rugby, and the National Team.

Your support will help us take the next step in making rugby a game for everyone.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Every pound raised from this campaign will go towards renovating and adapting SERFC to be VI inclusive, including improving the access from the carpark into the club itself and creating an accessible pathway from the changing rooms to the pitches. The adaptations will include levelling out the surfaces around the ground and the installations of ramps and handrails. This will ensure that SERFC will have greater capacity to support our upcoming tournaments and league games.

Community impact

VI Rugby changes lives. Beyond the pitch, it builds independence, friendship, and mental wellbeing. Our sessions bring together people from all walks of life — players, volunteers, and families — united by sport and shared purpose.

We partner with schools, community clubs, and sight loss organisations to demonstrate what inclusion in action looks like. By backing this campaign, you’re helping create a model of accessible sport that benefits whole communities and inspires the next generation.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our goal:

Make a pledge — Every donation counts. Don’t delay; momentum drives success!

Spread the word — Share our campaign on your social channels and help us reach new audiences.

Offer rewards — Local businesses can donate products, services, or experiences to thank our supporters.

Fundraise for us — Run, walk, bake, quiz — whatever your idea, set up your own page and get involved.

Together, we can continue to make rugby accessible, visible, and life-changing.
