Globe From Home is raising funds to enable thousands of children from schools in deprived areas to go on virtual school trips during Covid.
The pandemic has had a catastrophic impact on our children’s education and, more importantly, their mental well being. Even though schools are set to reopen, school trips are going to be unlikely for the near future. See www.telegraph.co.uk/sad-demise-school-trip-rite-passage-millions.
Globe From Home is a purpose-driven company that is making world travel accessible through live-streamed, interactive & virtual trips and experiences, especially for children. Every tour is relayed live from the respective destinations by local experts and can be easily accessed using a mobile device from the comforts of school/home. (see schools.globefromhome.com)

WHY WE ARE RAISING FUNDS:
While our virtual tours are already solving the barriers of cost (virtual school trips cost as little as £10 per child) and time for regular schools, we want to be able to offer our school trips completely free for schools in disadvantaged areas. (These will include trips to Costa Rica, Peru, India, Egypt & Kenya.)
With your help we will be able to enable thousands of children to travel, enhance learning and above all, lift their spirits during the current challenging times.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN:
While we want to try and support as many schools around the UK, we aim to make these trips accessible to at least 5000 children.
A pledge of as little as £25 will enable 2 children to avail a free school trip (This also gives you and your household the opportunity to enjoy our ‘Up & Close to Sloths in Costa Rica’ group tour with others). A pledge of £100 enables 10 children to go on trips and also gives you and your household a choice of 3 group tours.
Businesses & teams can contribute £500, £1000 or more and help make trips possible for entire schools (and in lieu of this, access a Private group tour for their whole team from a selection of exciting choices. Please see Rewards in the sidebar for details.)

3. To use travel as a medium for transformation.

More about our mission for schools:
Travel plays a critical role in early-learning for children. Besides educating them about different destinations, it acquaints them with other cultures and broadens their mental horizons more than any other activity.
Unless children are able to travel and gain a world-view, they will not be equipped to inhabit a future world, whose nature we increasingly cannot predict.
The pandemic has brought the prospect of school trips to a halt for the near future. However, the fact is that even in a pre-Covid era, travel has only been accessible to those children who could afford school trips or go on family holidays. The number of such trips are further limited by the restrictions of normal travel (time & cost) thus robbing most children of learning that is crucial for their future.
Globe From Home offers schools virtual travel experiences that complement teaching in the classroom, completely virtual school trips and other special sessions that foster one on one interactions between children of two countries. In doing so, our goal is to equip them with social and empathetic skills, and a true understanding of world issues to help them become global citizens.
Virtual School Trips

School trips, especially long haul trips, are prohibitive in terms of their cost limiting its access to a few, causing social division.
(See https://www.theguardian.com/education/2018/nov/22/3000-pounds-for-a-school-trip-you-must-be-joking). Now, from as little as £30, a child can take school trips to long haul destinations across the world, visit key highlights live, be part of cultural experiences and interact with locals. Click to view our virtual school trips.
Stand-alone sessions
Globe from Home also offers stand-alone sessions that complement teaching in classrooms. Imagine, for example, being able to have a live, interactive, virtual tour from Cairo with an expert of Egyptology taking children around the pyramids. To children who are learning about ancient egypt in the classroom, this would help cement their learning forever. Globe From Home is consistently working on adding sessions based on school curriculum.
Sessions focussing on larger issues:

We also offer experiences that highlight key issues such as racial inclusivity, climate change. An example is a 5-part module about the Holocaust which enables children to go back in time to life in the thriving Jewish community in Krakow, takes them on a tour of the camps, and also includes a one-on-one with a survivor - providing lifelong learning about this terrible part of our world history.
While Globe From Home offers live, virtual tours for individuals, small groups and businesses, our biggest focus is on using our offerings to provide impactful learning for children. The current crisis has impacted millions in tourism, including communities that thrived on tourist footfall. Globe From Home provides a sustainable revenue model for people in tourism.
