Help us to create a series of seriously good Gothic horror dramatic podcasts - with a great story, great actors and great production values.
Why?
We love Gothic horror! I grew up watching Hammer Horror films and reading Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley and it has been a long ambition to create seriously good scary dramas. By "scary" I don't mean nasty and slashy - I mean the style of the golden age of horror when the stories were full of adventure and romance as well as blood. I am writing stories that explore the nature of fear, but also love, pathos and identity. These are stories about monsters that explore what it is to be human.
What is it?
"The Strange Tales" are Five original dramas told over 15 podcasts. Set in the 1920's, they tell the story of Virgil Kaylock. A modest and insecure young man who's life takes the strangest of turns as he battles with dark, supernatural forces and confronts his own feelings of inadequacy and fear. His adventure takes him to a haunted Moor, a cursed Sailing Ship, the streets of London and the Hellfire caves as he battles with evil and pursues the love of the quick-witted Dorothy Bell, a journalist for The Illustrated London News. During the course of the plays he learns the astonishing truth of his destiny.
These are not only tales but dramas. I have written and acted in many radio plays and I aim to create a very polished and professional production. "The Strange Tales of Virgil Kaylock" podcast will be produced to the highest possible standard. Our team includes many professional actors, an experienced engineer, an administrator and a director/writer and we are lucky to have Neil Brand on-board who is composing an original score for the series. We have some help from The Arts Council England Lottery Fund but we also really need your help to make this happen. We would love for you to be involved and we have some great tiers that we hope will persuade you to be a part of it.
