Victoria Halls Urgent Roof Repairs

Aim: Due to substandard construction 25 years ago, the Victoria Hall Charity must raise an additional £40,000 to repair its roof & avoid closure.

Who Are We

The Victoria Hall Charity is more than just a building; it’s the heart of our community and a true hub that brings together people of all ages. From On-Screen Entertainment & live music events to charitable and wellness activities, family celebrations, and community gatherings, the hall serves generations across our village.

Our Cause 

We urgently need to repair a major leaky roof to prevent further water ingress affecting our electrics and the interior fabric of the hall complex. We want to ensure our halls remain safe, welcoming, and functional for everyone. 

Due to a substandard build 25 years ago, The Victoria Hall Charity need to fundraise beyond its normal maintenance budget to raise £40,000 to repair the gully between the Victoria hall and foyer glass roof to ensure its use can still be safe for the community. 

We plan to carry out the repairs in August to minimize disruption for our users and to complete the work before the winter weather is upon us. Not only to prevent further damage but secure our halls from potential closure as we approach the wetter winter months.

We will be contributing to this essential repair, however, we cannot cover the full cost alongside the urgent and necessary ongoing maintenance required to keep the hall in good condition.

How will we spend the money raised

After completing several roofing and surveyor reports, we now realize the atrium roof was the result of sub standard construction, resulting in numerous leaks across the entire gulley. These leaks are deemed unsafe, as they are now affecting the electrics and interior fabric of the halls.

The money raised will go to fund the urgent repair which will be completed by local roofing contractors in summer to minimize the impact to our users.

It will include a complex repair of the gulley, partial repair of the tiled and glass roofs, and repairs to membranes and guttering where the tiled roof meets the glass atrium. 

Taking off the 100 year old tiles safely, repairing the membrane underneath, checking the fabric of the gully is not damaged,  and possible further internal works may be required to repair the water ingress into our electrics.
