A modern twist to sewing lessons and workshops teaching skills to make, repair and recycle for all ages and abilities in Warwickshire.
To begin with Venerà will hold workshops and lessons in pop-up locations around Warwickshire in cool engaging spaces that are inclusive of all ages and abilities.
And this is where I need YOUR help!
To get the lessons and workshops up and running I will need essential basic equipment and sewing machines that the money raised through this project will help to buy.

I am so grateful to have been selected for the NatWest Back Her Business project but to receive the funding I need to meet my £1,250 target... so lets break it down:
NatWest will be pledging the first £50 (Thank you!) I must then raise £200 from 5 or more of you, if I go on to raise a further £500 from 30 or more of you NatWest will match this with another £500! This will then enter Venerà into the competition to win further project funding. So please share this project as the smallest of pledges will help me to get there.

I'm Anna, I studied Fashion Design at Birmingham City University BIAD graduating with a BA Hons in 2014, since then I am lucky to have worked with a variety of designers in the UK and overseas.
Over the past few years, sewing and designing has just been a hobby alongside working in office roles out of the fashion industry and I am so excited to get back into the thing that I love and have studied and worked so hard for.
This project has been a dream for a long time, and I now have the opportunity to turn this dream into reality and share the knowledge and skills I have learnt through lessons and workshops in the community.
In a world of fast fashion, changing trends and a generation that has adopted a throw away culture, I want to get us all making, repairing or altering the things we would ordinarily be throwing out.
The value of unused clothing in wardrobes has been estimated at around £30 billion and it is also estimated that £140 million worth of clothing goes into landfill each year.
Not only will these lessons and workshops inspire, and share fantastic skills, it’s a great way of meeting people in the community and beyond.
So what makes Venerà different?
I really want to make sewing inclusive and FUN, workshops will not only be teaching new skills, they will be a social event! Great food, exciting mocktails and a place to socialise and make new friends.
From on trend home furnishings and useful makes to the latest fashion accessories and garments, there will be a wide variety of workshops and lessons for all ages and abilities to get involved in.

With extra funding it would be possible to set up a permanent studio, a place where regular workshops and sewing lessons can be held with all the required equipment in a creative, inspiring and modern environment.
This will also create a space that people of all ages and abilities in the area can come to use the equipment for personal projects they may be working on or just need that specialist sewing machine to fix up any clothing or items they may have.

Thank you all SO much!
Anna
