Aim
The aim of our project, is to fill the void of healthy fast food options, for vegans and vegetarians in Walsall.
- Five years ago I became a chef, at the same time, I made the decision to become a vegetarian. A short time after, my then 13 year old son, decided he wanted to become vegan.
- This was quite a challenge, having no prior experience in vegan dietary requirements. However I am a creative individual, who is passionate about food and I enjoy a challenge.
- Being a vegan posed quite a challenge when it came to dining out and despite the progress that has been made, there is still a distinct lack of options available, particularly for food on the go.
- In Walsall there is a large vegan and vegetarian community, who are currently being failed. The are more options available now, at chain fast food restaurants, yet still they are limited and quite unhealthy.
- Our vision is to bring healthy, filling fast food in Walsall, to the vegan and vegetarian community; and the curious alike.
- We have received extremely positive feedback regarding our dishes, from friends, family and customers, at the diner where I am currently employed.
- We plan to use the money raised to purchase a mobile food hub and set up a resident pitch in Walsall. This will involve pitch fees, public liability insurance and other necessary expenses. All of which, we hope to cover with your help and support.
- Once our project is established, we plan to employ people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We would like to work with the local college, to offer education and training to our employees, so as to secure long-term employment and more importantly, establish a sense of self worth.
