Aim: Forced homelessness. Raising funds to convert a van into a safe home, while campaigning against the system that failed me & so many others.
Fighting for Safety, Stability, and Systemic Change.
Hi, I'm Izzie—a mother, survivor, and advocate. I'm launching this fundraiser to convert a van into a safe, stable home for me and my children after being failed by the very systems meant to protect us. This isn’t just about van life—it's about survival, dignity, and resilience in the face of institutional abandonment.
Following a violent attack, I found myself navigating the trauma of survival while also confronting a housing system that offered no safety net. I was told by my local council that if I left before or on the date my tenancy officially ended, I’d be seen as “intentionally homeless.” But staying past that date means debt, legal threats, and further emotional harm. I’ve been forced into an impossible situation—one that far too many vulnerable people know all too well.
So I’m taking back control. My plan is to convert a van into a secure, self-sufficient home on wheels—one that protects my mental health, shelters my children, and gives us a fresh start. But this fundraiser is about more than just bricks, bolts, and bedding.
It’s part of a larger campaign to expose and challenge the systemic failures that leave survivors unsupported, unheard, and unprotected. I’ve already begun using my voice through a survivor-led project called Fighting For My Life, which includes advocacy work, storytelling, and a podcast. This van is both a sanctuary and a symbol: of reclaiming power, of refusing silence, and of building a future on my own terms.
Your support will go directly towards essential costs—insulating the van, installing power and plumbing, and making it liveable for a small family of 3. Every contribution helps create not just a home, but a platform for change.
If you believe survivors deserve safety, dignity, and a fighting chance—please consider supporting this campaign. Share it, fund it, talk about it. Together, we can drive change.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for believing.
