More than 3,000 households in Uttlesford are estimated to be in fuel poverty - choosing between food and fuel. Can you share the warmth?
Although Uttlesford is considered to be an affluent area, more than 3,000 households across the district are already in fuel poverty. Record increases in energy bills, historically high levels of inflation, higher rents and fuel prices mean that many more are now worrying whether they will be able to afford the basics they need to live their lives and raise their children this winter.
We are seeing increased demand for our energy advice and income maximization services and we are doing all we can to support the local community through this difficult time. At times like these, people often ask us what they can do to help.
So...How can you help?
If you would like to help another local person who can’t afford to heat their home this winter, perhaps if you are fortunate enough to be able to manage without your winter fuel allowance, please consider making a donation to the Uttlesford Share the Warmth Fund.
This fund provides emergency support for people who cannot afford to top up their meters, pay their utility bills or fill their oil tank, so they aren't forced to make the impossible choice between heating and eating.
Money donated to this fund will be ring-fenced for distribution to local people in this cost of living crisis.
Thank you for helping to make sure we can all can stay warm this winter.
