Establish a medical clinic in Arua Uganda to serve the needs of the South Sudanese Refugees fleeing from the conflict in their country
In September 2015 this purpose built clinic was opened in Liwolo, South Sudan to offer urgent medical care to the community. The clinic was built by the local community with the help of CRESS UK (Christian Relief and Education in South Sudan).
This clinic was a lifeline, not just for the people of Kajo Keji but for those from many miles around.
Since fighting has escalated over the last couple of months, the clinic staff (including a fully trained nurse and midwife) have taken the difficult decision to close the clinic, remove all the equipment and relocate to Arua, which is a town in the north west of Uganda on the border with the Congo.
The clinic is staffed solely by South Sudanese who have risked their own lives to save the equipment and ensure it got across the border safely. The team’s aim is to re-open the clinic in Arua, doing all that they can in a temporary location.
The money will be used by them to treat their own people and will offer much needed care to those who have left everything behind and now have no way of caring for themselves. The presence of a clinic in Arua will offer hope to many thousands of displaced people.
Nothing is simple and not only do they need to find a suitable location, but also gain permission to open. There will be additional costs in rental and on-going expenses that had not been foreseen but we must find a solution so that the CRESS staff can continue their good work and provide much needed medical support to those living in refugee camps and more arriving in Arua on a daily basis.
We are seeking funds to help pay rent for the clinic, fund much needed equipment and medicines and employ additional staff to cope with the huge numbers of refugees who will require medical attention on an ongoing basis. As a small, registered charity CRESS UK are able to guarantee that all funds raised will go directly to the work of the clinic.
Please support us and make a difference to the people of this war torn country.
Thank You.
