Encourage 1,000 disadvantaged housing estate tenants to grow healthy fresh food in gardens and in their homes and to plant a fruit orchard.
Our charity, called Seeds for Growth, was launched in 2006.
We collaborate with local people to create and run community projects such as our food co-ops which provide fresh healthy food to 35,000 people and are all staffed and managed by community volunteers.
We inspire and support our community "to help themselves".
We seek you support to 'grow' our Urban Farmer project which will inspire, encourage, train and enthuse local disadvantaged people, such as those who are unemployed or have mental health issues, to grow their own food.
The urban food farming will be in the community gardens we have created on their social housing estate, in their flats and on their balconies.
We shall encourage easy to grow food such as Beetroot, Salad leaves, Bush tomatoes, Potatoes, Peas, Radishes, Miners’ lettuce/winter purslane, Japanese and Chinese salad leaves, Chilli ‘Cayenne’ NSD Courgette.
We will also use your funds to create a new fruit orchard on the estate to provide healthy fruit for many years into the future.
