Urban Circle & Community House: Empowering Youth and Building Pathways out of Poverty

We need your help to make a difference!

Urban Circle Newport, a grassroots, Black-led arts and advocacy charity, is joining forces with Community House, a trusted hub in Newport’s multicultural Maindee community. Together, we're launching an exciting project to empower young people, tackle poverty, and break down barriers that hold them back.

What We’re Doing

We’re delivering a series of innovative, engaging, and creative courses to help young people from diverse, often marginalised backgrounds gain new skills, qualifications, and confidence. Our project focuses on using arts, sports, and community work to provide clear pathways out of poverty for those who need it most.

The Courses:

  • Dance & New to English: A fun and expressive way for young people and their families to improve their health, creativity, and language skills.
  • Creative Arts Meets Public Health: A unique course combining arts and well-being principles to help participants with self-regulation and mental health.
  • Youth Work Level 2 & 3: A gateway into community and education-based jobs for young people, providing essential skills for employment.
  • Dance Leaders. Engaging and developing the next generation of dance tutor that is equipped and ready to teach dance in the community.

Why It Matters

Children and young people from communities like the Eastern European Gypsy Roma and South Asian communities in Newport face barriers such as discrimination, poverty, and lack of access to opportunities. Mainstream services often fail to meet their needs, leaving them isolated and excluded.

With your support, we’ll provide:

  • Accredited qualifications that lead to real employment opportunities.
  • Leadership training in sports and dance so young people can give back to their communities.
  • Access to positive role models and mentors to inspire and uplift them.

How You Can Help

With your contribution, we’ll create life-changing opportunities for young people, equipping them with the tools and confidence to thrive.

What Your Donation Supports:

What Success Looks Like

Your support will help young people gain skills, qualifications, and confidence. They will become leaders in their communities, inspiring others to follow their path. This project directly addresses child poverty and empowers young people to overcome the barriers they face.

Together, we can create lasting change for these young people and their communities!
