Big Help Out
To mark The King’s Coronation, help us do something amazing. King Charles III is inviting everyone to volunteer for their favourite cause on Monday 8th May as part of The Big Help Out. . Inspired by HM King Charles III’s life of service, we are encouraging everyone to join.
UWFRA is a very important part of our local community and I have taken it upon myself to try and raise much needed funds to help them. Let’s show them how much we appreciate them and all they do for our community. This is our opportunity to help them
UPPER WHARFEDALE FRA
One of the oldest teams in the UK, the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association – UWFRA for short – has been rescuing people and animals from the caves, mineshafts, fells and crags of Wharfedale, Nidderdale, Littondale and mid-Airedale for over 75 years, one of a handful of teams in the UK with both mountain and cave rescue capability.
Everyone in UFWRA is an unpaid volunteer. They are available 24/7. 365 days a year. Several callouts a week are the norm. They have to have a high level of first aid expertise as they may be first on scene and know nothing about the patient
They raise their own funds to meet running costs of £50,000 a year. Uwfra gets no direct funding from government and raises all their own funds for equipment and vehicles.
They are reliant on donations and we want to help them to raise their much needed funds
They are true hero’s
