Install new play equipment and improve the Bailiffe Bridge play area for families.
The Friends of Bailiffe Bridge Memorial Park & Residents Group are working with Calderdale Council (CMBC) to upgrade the Bailiffe Bridge play area. Our goal is to create a safe, fun, and inclusive space for children of all ages. Every donation brings us closer to giving our community a play area we can be proud of!
About the Project: -
Local families love the Bailiffe Bridge play area, but it is time it had an upgrade. The existing equipment, a swing set (40+ years old) and climbing frame with slide (10-15 years old), are more suited to older children; there is limited equipment for the younger age range. In 2023 over one thousand residents signed a petition advocating for additional play equipment for the Bailiffe Bridge play area. Following this, consultation was undertaken in 2024 with support from Calderdale Council.
Calderdale Council supports the project, and we have a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure the play area is maintained for years to come. The Council will be funding a replacement roundabout, however, there is no capital funding available for further equipment. Last year we used a CMBC ward forum grant to purchase two benches for the play area, which were installed by the Council. We were also successful in acquiring a £2,500 grant from Community Foundation for Calderdale which will go towards the cost of installing two springies, however, the group would like to raise further funds to install a piece of climbing equipment aimed at younger children.
