We want to support Unicef in its work with G7 countries to enable Covid vaccination for everyone, wherever they are in the world.
We, the 35 Truro Cathedral Choristers, aged 8-18 are reaching out to unite children all over the world, raising our voices in song - a new song by Tim Rice with a powerful message to world leaders, as they prepare for the G7 Summit in Cornwall, UK, this June.
Already over 27,000 voices right across the world have signed up to sing with us in 30 countries. It's striking how varied the singers' situations are - some are comfortable and relatively safe, others are in great need or are living in states of emergency or severe Covid lockdown. It's wonderful to be connected and sing together but we wanted to do something to help get vaccines to everyone, no matter where they are or what they do or don't have.
As Josh (12) says, ‘Everyone can make a difference, even a child. Just because we’re children, it doesn’t mean we can’t make a difference to these things, ’
The 'Gee Seven' song ends with the chorus below with a message to G7 leaders. This fund raiser for Unicef is our way of acting on these powerful words ourselves. We hope very much you'll be inspired by our singing and help us reach our target. £15 pays for 500 vaccines to be transported and £25 enables 20 vaccines to be given - that could be 20 lives saved, £50 trains a health worker to give them and £100 delivers two doses for 35 people!
'No one is too small to make a difference,' is what Greta Thunberg says and no donation is too small to help us reach our goal!
On behalf of the 35 choristers, Thank you!
Gee Seven – let nation speak to nation
Gee Seven – don’t let the others down
Gee Seven – don’t forget the not so fortunate
Gee Seven – or we’ll run you out of town
Thank you for helping us make a difference!
