Small festivals are two a penny BUT you won’t find anything like Undercover especially in the South East (see below for a bit more about Undercover).

Since 2013 we believe that we have built one of the friendliest and best small alternative music events with the very best of punk, ska, post punk and so much more, but putting this on has been a labour of love but a very expensive experience for one particular person.

It is a well-known fact that despite how good an event it is Undercover does not make any money and that Mick who runs it soaks up the significant losses.  Mick can’t do that anymore and we are supporting him and the team by launching this campaign. Mick has supported us since 2013. It is now OUR time to support him!

Your support will keep the Undercover dream alive, but ONLY YOU can make it happen.  

If Undercover 9 goes ahead and all things being equal, the tickets charged on the day will work out more than those getting the two ticket reward package.

The Holroyd Arms, Aldershot Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 8AF

Those that have been at the venue before won't recognise the place, as its been redeveloped to be a 400+ capacity venue, and its looking very very impressive.

The (improved and larger) main stage will have live music up to midnight Fri & Sat and 10pm on the Sunday.

And there will be an acoustic stage outside "The Not So Undercover Acoustic Corner"with some real treats being planned and maybe the return of "the Buskers Corner".

When: 9th, 10th and 11th April 2021. (weekend after Easter).

This is the date we are aiming for; if the crisis is still on or for practical reasons prohibits this date then we will look to move it to a later date hopefully around Sept or October or even November if we have to, it is just difficult to nail down the date due to the crisis. We have to date held 9 Undercover Festival events (inc Undercover 7.5) and other gigs, even if it means we lose money we have honoured our promise to make each and every event happen, and we will stake our hard earned reputation to assure you if the funding is secured Undercover9 WILL happen.

How big an Undercover?  

The Undercover team will make Undercover 9 happen what shape it takes will depend on the funding reached as we aim to keep within a budget set by the money raised in this project, so it is down to you really.

WHAT ARE WE OFFERING

The venue and dates have been announced, all we need now is to sufficient funds to enable Undercover 9 to proceed, when / if that happens we will start to roll out band announcements.

With our experience, contacts and superb support from YOU the Undercover family we are confident Undercover 9 will be the best yet.

This campaign is to fund your festival and the main reward is hopefully you knowing by your donation that you are making IT HAPPEN!!

All support helps; and if you donate £50 or above you will receive a reward package, due to costs tickets in the rewards package can only be offered for pledges of £75 and above, see reward buttons for full details.

• Have your say! Access to emails exclusively for all backers to make suggestions on Undercover; we’ll book as many of the most popular suggestions as reasonably possible (depending on affordability, availability and suitability).
• All those making a pledge will be in the roll of honour on the Website and (space permitting) on the programme for UCF 9.

More than £200: If you want to support us in this way will be a real help but best for you to make the crowdfunding £200 donation then and then get in touch if you want to donate more and we can discuss details.

A BIT MORE ABOUT UNDERCOVER

Undercover Festival, a genuine, small proudly independent musical celebration of alternative music including punk, post punk, Ska and much more. Yes small festivals are two a penny “BUT you won’t find anything like Undercover especially in the South East”

Since we started loads of others have cropped up but we believe no one can match the family friendly and independent feel we have at Undercover.

Even since 2013 we have kept a proud and independent identity bereft of corporate sponsorship.

Because we are always Undercover the bar takings are never ours so Undercover survives or we aim to predominantly on ticket sales.

Undercover Festival has had a nomadic existence since we first started in Bisley Surrey in 2013 for 3 years, then via Brighton for a year, Margate was for a couple of years, then 2019 we upped sticks to Tufnell Park London and for September 2019 we moved to The Fiery Bird Venue Woking the general area we started in, and March 2020 we moved back to Woking, but as the venue is closing we are looking for another new venue.

Undercover a small alternative festival defies all other conventions and festival templates by always being held undercover i.e. not outdoors so if it’s peeing down come April it’s not a problem and your beer won’t get diluted. Leave your wellies at home, and enjoy one of the best small alternative festivals London and the South East has to offer.

The festival is one that prides itself on taking an independent and grassroots approach to things, and is always determined to be different from mainstream events, with alternative action from bands you’d be highly unlikely to see on many other festival line-ups.

Mick Moriarty said: 

“We believe the usual run-of-the-mill festivals tend to book bands that in the main are broadly similar – and way too safe! We try for a line up and experience that is something different and appeals to a crowd definitely not catered for elsewhere.

“Being a small independent grassroots festival is tough because media attention is always on the big boys, but we believe we have struck a chord with people who like their music raw and full of the passion and energy that only acts like ours generate.”

The festival grew out of a small tent tucked in the back corner of the sadly departed GuilFest in Surrey and has become a firm fixture in many people’s diaries, with dedicated fans coming back year on year.

 In a financial climate where it always seems to be about the money, Undercover throws convention to the wind and just goes with what it believes in.
