Umbrella; Sheffield’s upcoming inclusive bar, cafe, nightclub and event space ☂️

 We are Umbrella, an upcoming independent bar, nightclub, cafe and event space who pride ourselves on inclusivity for all. 

We firmly believe in love, life, and acceptance and being way more than just your average bar and nightclub!

But, WE need YOUR help to make this a reality!

Help us cast another much needed rainbow in history — YOU can make this happen. That's why we're offering 1.5x your money in bar vouchers with 12 months validity (available to use over multiple visits) plus some exclusive discounts, offers and unique experiences to show our gratitude!

Any Students that donate to the project will receive the above as well as free entry to all club nights for their entire time at university, plus a drink and shot on entry!

Starting from Day 1 we want Umbrella to be everything it can possibly be and more for all of you to enjoy and fall in love with! We believe this has the potential to be hugely popular.

From students to locals, young and old, everyone is welcome and everyone will love what we have to bring to the Sheffield scene.

Umbrella will be a city centre bar for people of all beliefs, genders, races, and sexualities — and will hopefully be opening in an amazing location -SHEFFIELD! A amazing, vibrant city, featuring a number of other independent bars and small businesses that include coffee shops, tattoo parlors, restaurants, thrift stores, student accommodation and much more! - THE PERFECT LOCATION!

It will provide a relaxing, fun, and safe space for catching up with friends, happy hours with colleagues, and meeting new people. The bar will have:

In May 2020, we started the Umbrella party in Huddersfield. We began to plant the seeds of our dream, building an audience, generating ideas, building a plan and an online presence. But now our dream is bigger and we’re coming for SHEFFIELD!

In July 2020, we threw an online showcase event called Umbrella Live - featuring performances by artists both local and from afar; including messages from Rupaul’s Drag Race UK alum: DIVINA DE CAMPO & THE VIVIENNE! 

50% of all proceeds from this event were donated to an LGBTQ+ mental health charity. 

This was a hugely popular online event which we plan on hosting again hopefully very soon and as an annual event in the bar once we open the doors ☂️

3 years later…

It’s been a difficult couple of years for EVERYONE, but the party continues, and if all goes to plan and and we can gather the funding then we are excited to open the doors to Umbrella in Sheffield City Centre this year!!

Umbrella will provide…

SAFE SPACE: A venue that provides a safe and accepting environment for people of all genders, orientations, races, and identities.

ENTERTAINMENT: A venue which brings you the best in local talent and even some big name performers! As well as some of the best most exciting club nights you’ve ever seen!

EDUCATION: A venue for screenings, movies, Q&A's with community leaders, educators and LGBTQ+ activists. 

COMMUNITY: A venue with a mission to nurture diversity and bring people together through arts, performance, music, and culture.

JOBS: We aim to provide jobs for locals and students alike to come and work in a fun, inclusive environment and we are committed to providing a fair wage!

REFRESHMENTS: We will sell a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments including speciality cocktails, craft beers and ales, ciders, wines and spirits as well as a selection of smoothies and hot drinks. We will include great prices as well as deals and offers that will be very enticing to the community.

THE SESH: This one really speaks for itself, everyone loves a party 🎈 

How your £££ can help

The more we raise, the more we can do!

Although we are actively searching for funding bodies for the bar, during the current climate funding is proving to be extremely difficult to come by, as well as the fact that a lot of banks are unwilling to lend to start ups due to a lack of trading history!

So, we’re trying to raise funds for the film any way we can. This crowd funding project will make up a huge percentage of what we need to make our dream a reality. 

Some of the things that your pledges will go towards are: 

1. PREMESIS 

We have our eye on the best premesis, and gaining this is key to getting the bar up and running! 

2. LICENSING

We will obtain the correct licensing to be able to operate a bar and nightclub as well as serving beverages to the public. 

3. BRANDING & MARKETING

So that all you beutiful people can see us from afar, we’ll need a sign that is so EXTRA you can see it from Mars! Marketing on social media and other platforms wil enable to bring in customers and spread the word on opening, events and more! We have already created our unique logo and began work marketing such as posters, flyers, menus etc.

4. PERFORMANCE STAGE 

For: drag, comedy, acoustic, magic, bingo, cooking demos, make-up tutorials, vacation slideshows, and more!

3. DANCE FLOOR WITH SOUND SYSTEM

For: Twisting and twirling, bumping and grinding, single lady-ing it on a Saturday night fever, skip on down that yellow brick road, shake what your momma gave you and sashay onto that dancefloor, it’s all yours baby! 

4. FURNISHINGS

Sofas, chairs, tables, plants, everything we need to create a lively, comfortable environment.

5. STOCK

Can’t operate a bar without stock! We’ll be bringing you cocktails, beers, ciders, ales, wines and MUCH MORE!
