Aim

We’re fundraising to support the 2026 Ulverston Lantern Festival.

Every year thousands turn-out to watch as a parade of community-made paper and wicker lanterns form a spectacular river of light through Ulverston, Cumbria.

The event has been going for over 40 years now and is a highlight of our Festival Town’s busy events calendar.

It’s run entirely by volunteers and paid for with sales of lantern kits and your brilliant donations.

With your help this year’s event will take place on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 19 📆

THE 2026 LANTERN FESTIVAL THEME IS...⭐From Dusk til Dawn 🌛

We thought we'd embrace all things nocturnal this year for our night-time festival...

🦉 Creatures of the night like owls, foxes, bats, moths, slugs...

⭐ The night sky with stars, moons...

🛌 Bedtime comforts like teddies and stories

🥳 Or maybe representations of great nights out in Ulverston... whatever inspires you.

Lantern kits (£6) are on sale in August across the town at Appleseeds, The Book Shack (Indoor Market), The Coronation Hall, The Cumbria Way Gift Shop, Croftlands Launderette and Wax Lyrical in Lindal.

Or make your lantern at our community workshops the week before:

At The Coronation Hall, Ulverston at the weekend:
Saturday 12th Sept, 2-6pm
Sunday 13th Sept, 2-6pm

At The Old Theatre mid-week (next to the Theatre St Car Park by Poole Townsend)
Mon to Fri 14-18th Sept, 5.30 - 8.30pm.

Join us to see this magical soul-warming spectacle.

And please help us keep the Lantern Festival shining by clicking some £s into the kitty.

THANK-YOU ALL for helping keep this much-loved festival alive.

Shine on 🕯️
