Foal Farm is an independent animal rescue and sanctuary in Biggin Hill. Each year we rehome over 500 abandoned, abused and neglected dogs, cats and small animals. We regularly take on animals with chronic conditions or older animals that may not get a home elsewhere.
We need to replace our animal ambulance as it is not ULEZ compliant, as we are based just within Greater London on the border with Kent. We regularly transport multiple animals at a time - usually quite short distances, however occasionally we need to make longer journeys. Animals are taken to the vets for routine operations (e.g., neutering) or for medical emergencies. The ambulance is also used in rescue missions, where multiple animals are collected from environments where they are suffering from neglect or abuse.
We work with the local community, taking in unwanted pets and finding them new homes. The effect of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis has meant we are needed more than ever, as people make the difficult decision to give up their pets as they can no longer afford to keep them, or they no longer have the time to look after them. We also take in animals whose owners have sadly passed away or been taken into care homes, animals that have been left with vets, or strays from the pound who have been found wandering the streets.
Our current vehicle is over 12 years old and is not ULEZ compliant. A 4 year old van fitted out with the necessary kennels and cages will cost around £25,000. If we can reach our stretch target of £40,000, we could get a much newer van with more sophisticated fittings.
Please donate to help us buy a new animal ambulance. Thank you!
