Recognised as a Service charity in 2025, we are officially launching the UK Afghanistan Veterans Community (AVC)
Recognised as a Service charity in 2025, the launch of the UK Afghanistan Veterans Community (AVC) is now official!
Why a new Service charity now? Research commissioned by us, presented in Parliament, and conducted pro-bono by M&C Saatchi WS revealed a difficult truth; that 92% of Veteran respondents fear our service all but being forgotten, alongside the memories of the 457 who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Some told us that they struggle with connecting to established military groups or offerings of help.
There is a real risk of social isolation.
Our new charity AVC is taking this challenge head on and our team has spent the last 3 years patiently listening to our community to ensure we get it right ahead of an official launch. Afghanistan Veterans have asked us for a new, inclusive and modern membership organisation to represent them. AVC will provide this for a cohort numbering 150,000 people, the largest Veterans' community to have served overseas since WW2.
Our work seeks to remember each individual story and the selfless values they demonstrated throughout their service and beyond.
