Uigshader -Track to the Future
Portree, Highland Council, United Kingdom
Aim
The track at Uigshader needs the bumps and mud smoothed out so that everyone who visits can easily access the woodland.
We are ten years along our journey to transform the Uigshader Woodland into a diverse native habitat. We want to conserve valuable ecosystems such as deep peat, and continue to create a flourishing woodland.
So far, we have built 6km of fencing, planted 30,000 native trees, restored a small area of peatland, and built a barn with an established community of users and volunteers.
Now we have reached the point where our existing track requires an upgrade. Improving access will greatly aid the day to day maintenance and management of the woodland, help facilitate our volunteer days, and also provide a nice walking path for visitors to enjoy.
We have already been given provisional funding to carry out this work but we really really need your help to raise enough money to ensure the project is completed.
Any small amount would be greatly appreciated as it all adds up.
