I am a social entrepreneur seeking funding to support my final semester in Economics at Makerere Univeristy
The finishing Line - Finish with me!
The journey that started with a single step is finally coming to fruition. I am at a point of crossing the finishing line but I can't do it on my own.
As the saying goes - No man is an island, I am a testimony. With the support of many people with big hearts; many of whom I didn't personally know them, I have been able to edge closer to my dream.
My dream to attain a University education was born in 2004 when I formally started my primary one level in a small village of Agoro in Northern Uganda. Although it was almost impossible to dream at the time given the fact we lived in a congested Internally Displaced People (IDP) camp - as a result of the LRA war in the North let alone having a single mother, the situations I witnessed in the camp galvanized me to dream and to empower myself through education so that I could become a great force in causing change and transforming my community into a better habitat for its people. I now dream to transform the World!
This dream would have experienced its mortality at infantry without the support of well-wishers across the world. Now it is almost withing my reach. Despite a last-minute fund-raising campaign last semester, I was able to sit my exams and scored highly. I currently sit on the first-class grade.I was also able to serve my role as the speaker for the students association of Economics in the University. Thanks to all those who supported the campaign. I an set to become an Economist.
I am currently in my final semester of undergraduate degree. In an attempt to raise part of the required tuition, I worked as a porter (helper) in the concrete section at a construction site in Kampala last year December. I was able to save about £75 . I have also been able to cover my food costs, books, transport and other personal requirements. Accommodation is also settled.
I have been given £125 tuition cots. However, I still have a tuition deficit of about £250. Your donation will strictly go towards tuition costs as all other costs have already been covered by myself.
As a give back, I will continue to volunteer with the Butterfly Project, who discovered me in Agoro when I was a young teenager. I am a youth trainer on key areas of change. I also plan to give back to my community as soon as I graduate by taking part in volunteering activities, advocating for green Economics, and undertaking various change projects. I already have some under my belt such as the Young Achievers Club, Drama for Change project and the Children's village Library.
Thus, help me cross the finishing line! #FinishWithMe
