Aim

We're Crowdfunding to develop a new innovative sports leadership, performance analysis, S&C, volunteering and leadership programme

Who are we?

We are a voluntary led cross community constituted football organisation primarily organising teams for the Super Cup competition each year. We are much more than just that though! We are led by a Committee of volunteers from across Tyrone. Our aims and objectives are to support young people across the county of Tyrone by providing opportunities to play football for their County, and also provide regular social opportunities, opportunities to mix with others from different backgrounds & traditions (cross community), provide personal development opportunities, volunteering opportunities, opportunities to progress into future leadership roles, and opportunities to take part in health & wellbeing initiatives.

As well as young people, we also provide opportunities for adults and older people through volunteer coaching and administration opportunities. We provide opportunities for to enhance skills and gain new qualifications through coaching awards, as well as provide opportunities to take on leadership roles within the Committee.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Each year, County Tyrone Super Cup provides talented young footballers from across the county with the opportunity to participate in one of Europe's leading youth football tournaments. While football remains at the heart of our work, we recognise that only a small number of players will progress into professional sport.

Through our new "Sporting Futures Programme", we want to help young people and in particular teenage boys explore the many opportunities that exist within sport and physical activity beyond playing.

The programme will run over 10 weeks and be delivered alongside our football activities. Participants will complete a 4-week Sports Leadership Programme covering communication, teamwork, leadership and decision-making skills. This will include exploring coaching pathways, introducing young people to coaching across football and other multi-sports, session planning and player development. It will also include club leadership that will provide insight into club governance, committee roles, event management and volunteering opportunities within sport.

We will also deliver a 4 week Sports Performance Analysis Programme will provide practical experience in video analysis, match analysis and performance review.

Participants will then complete a new Strength and Conditioning Programme focused on athletic development, movement skills, injury prevention, speed, agility and long-term physical activity.

The project will support up to 40 young people aged 12-16, particularly those from deprived communities across Tyrone like Strabane, Cookstown, Omagh, Dungannon and surrounding rural areas to develop new skills, build confidence and gain experience in coaching, leadership and volunteering.

Funding will support specialist tutors, venue hire, workshops, athletic development sessions and project-specific equipment, helping develop the next generation of coaches, volunteers, leaders and ambassadors for sport within our communities.

Creating Opportunities in Sport

Our Sporting Futures Programme aligns strongly with the aims of Sport NI's Creating Opportunities Fund by delivering a new and additional project that uses sport as a vehicle to develop skills, confidence, leadership and long-term participation among children and young people. The project directly supports one of the fund's key priority groups, young people by engaging up to 40 participants aged 12-16 from across County Tyrone.

The programme will help level the playing field by providing opportunities that many participants, particularly those from deprived and rural communities such as Strabane, Omagh, Dungannon and Cookstown, would not otherwise have access to. While participants are involved in football, this project goes beyond playing and introduces them to wider pathways within sport and physical activity.

Through sports leadership, coaching, volunteering and club governance workshops, young people will gain practical experience and skills that can support future involvement as coaches, volunteers, officials and leaders within community sport. The sports performance analysis element will introduce participants to emerging opportunities within the sporting workforce, while the strength and conditioning programme will promote physical activity, injury prevention, athletic development and lifelong participation in sport.

Importantly, this is a completely new initiative for Tyrone Super Cup. We have never done this before. By combining leadership development, volunteering opportunities and physical activity, the project will create meaningful sporting opportunities for young people while helping develop the next generation of coaches, volunteers, leaders and ambassadors for sport across County Tyrone.

Community impact

County Tyrone Super Cup has a long history of providing positive sporting opportunities for young people from across the county. Each year, we bring together players from a wide range of backgrounds, communities and geographical areas, helping to build friendships, confidence and a shared sense of pride through sport. Our programme attracts participants from urban and rural areas including Strabane, Omagh, Cookstown, Dungannon and surrounding villages, many of whom come from communities facing social and economic disadvantage.

Our new Sporting Futures Programme will extend this impact beyond football by helping up to 40 young people aged 12-16 develop valuable leadership, coaching, volunteering and sporting skills. Participants will gain practical experience in sports leadership, performance analysis, club governance and strength and conditioning, equipping them with knowledge and confidence that can benefit them throughout their lives.

The wider community will also benefit as participants are encouraged to become future coaches, volunteers, committee members and leaders within local sports clubs and community organisations. This will strengthen the local sporting infrastructure and help sustain community-based sport across Tyrone. By encouraging lifelong participation in sport and physical activity, the project will support healthier lifestyles, improved wellbeing and increased community involvement. Ultimately, the programme will help develop a new generation of young people who are equipped to make a positive contribution to sport and their local communities long after their playing days have ended.
