Twycross Zoo - A Conservation Charity

RCN 501841, Atherstone

At Twycross Zoo, we’ve spent over 60 years working to safeguard some of the world’s rarest species. Zoos play a vital role in protecting wildlife and inspiring people to care about nature. Across the UK, over 32 million people visit zoos every year. That reach gives us an unmatched opportunity to educate, inspire and ignite action for nature. We are a registered conservation charity and proud members of BIAZA, EAZA, WAZA and the IUCN. We work alongside leading organisations to deliver conservation that matters. https://twycrosszoo.org/conservation-in-action/

Thanks to an incredible £18million grant from the UK Government, work on building the Global Conservation Centre at Twycross Zoo is underway. But, we need your help to raise £500,000 to support development of our world-class Bornean orangutan habitat.

"Orangutans are on the brink of extinction, and this project is a lifeline. But, we can only achieve it with your support. The build of our new Bornean orangutan habitat will help us amplify conservation work for the species, provide them with a world-class home, and inspire hundreds of thousands of people every year to take action. Every donation will bring us closer to saving these incredible apes, before it's too late. Please support us if you can." - Dr Rebecca Biddle, Chief Conservation Officer at Twycross Zoo

Every single donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference for us as a charity, and help to build this extraordinary new home for our critically endangered orangutans. Thank you.

How we're saving orangutans from extinction...

  • Supporting field projects, community engagement and education initiatives with locals in Borneo, alongside our partners Borneo Nature Foundation.
  • Working collaboratively with other zoos across Europe to care for a healthy and genetically viable population of Bornean orangutan, as a support system for their critically endangered wild counterparts.
  • Educating hundreds of thousands of visitors on the threats faced by orangutans and the impact our every day actions can have.
