Aim

The Two Moors Festival needs your help to raise funds to run outreach sessions into schools in Exeter and Dartmoor. Please give generously.

The Two Moors Festival Outreach 2026

This October, with your help, we are hoping to run outreach into schools in Exeter and Dartmoor with the Armonico Consort and Calidore Quartet.

Having successfully undertaken outreach projects over the years, in 2026 The Two Moors Festival is planning on working with the Armonico Consort in Exeter and the Calidore Quartet on Dartmoor to provide workshops within schools. We are also raising funding to subsidise free tickets for under 16's.

Armonico Consort - Outreach

Armonico Consort is a critically acclaimed choir and instrumental ensemble renowned for inspiring audiences with passionate performances, providing imaginative singing opportunities for young people through their singing education programme.

There will be five workshops in three Exeter Schools preparing the students for a performance at Exeter Cathedral on Friday 2nd October. This is an exciting opportunity for students to perform with professional musicians.

Calidore Quartet - Outreach

Currently the Distinguished String Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Delaware, the Calidore has also held residencies at the University of Toronto, University of Michigan, and Stony Brook University. We are hoping to be able to fund some workshops across schools on Dartmoor.

Free tickets for under 16's

Music encourages self-expression and allows young people to explore their own identities, develop emotional resilience and improve self - esteem (The Children's Society). By offering free tickets to under 16's, The Two Moors Festival hopes to encourage children to attend our concerts and events in October 2026.

Outcomes from 2025 Outreach

In 2025, the Two Moors Festival worked with Lewis Gibbs from Devon Music Education Hub who said: "It’s incredibly inspiring to bring leading professional musicians into our schools. Collaborations like this allow us to capitalise on artists visiting the South West for events such as the Two Moors Festival, making these enriching opportunities possible for young people across Devon.”

Feedback from teachers was incredibly positive as many of the children had never heard live classical music before. One teacher said, "The children were fascinated by the instruments and totally engaged with the whole 45 minutes.  This is the type of music that I am sure none of them would have experienced before, including one operatic piece.  Watching their faces, I could see they were all entranced.  As each piece ended, there was a pause, as if the children were too engrossed to start clapping.  Everyone joined in with ‘All through the Night’ which was lovely."
