We're creating a one-hour Twelfth Night for young audiences, in our trademark bonkers style, with singing, dance, puppetry and madcap comedy

We're creating a new show for children in our local community - Peckham in south east London. A one-hour adaptation of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, following the success of last year's Much Ado About Nothing. We want to establish ourselves as a local theatre company dedicated to bringing our shows to children in our area, some of whom may not have experienced theatre and live performance before.
Infinite Jest was formed in 2009 by Henry Everett and Fiona Putnam. We are dedicated to making Shakespeare fun for children of all ages. We provide Shakespeare workshops in schools (from Key Stage 1 to A level) and we produce adaptations of his plays for children aged 5+.

We want to create our second show - Twelfth Night for the Nunhead Bite Festival this October. It's our aim to reach as broad an audience as possible and we have committed to providing our shows for free. We need your help to do this.
As part of our determination to forge closer links with our community we will be mentoring a young person from the area during the production of this show. This will give a young person who is interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts an opportunity to work with a professional company and gain an understanding of the various roles involved, as well as the pressures and joys!
We are entirely self-funded. We've put our shows on in the past through hard work, will power, and the kindness of friends.
You'll see from the breakdown of costs below that our largest investment is in the talented people who work with us. We insist as a theatre company on paying the industry minimum to our company and production team.
These are some of our expenses
Actors and director 8 days rehearsal and performances £4300designer and set £800choreographer £150composer £150props and costume £100mentor's expenses £100
We are actively seeking funding to cover the rest of our costs, but we are confident we can reach our ambitious target with the help of our wonderful friends, family, local businesses and personal contacts.
"a perfect blend of quirky humour , lightening quick physicality and emotional truthfulness. This company's special talent seems to lie in their ability to distil the essence of a Shakespearean story and make it accessible to young audiences, whilst at the same time keeping the adults amused with a more sophisticated layer of funny.
To be highly recommended, either as the perfect introduction to Shakespeare or as a rewarding show in itself. We will definitely be asking them back." Camilla Van Doorn, producer, STET The English Theatre, The Hague, The Netherlands
"I thought your adaptation was brilliantly creative. I loved all the quirky elements to it: the grumpy puppet, the use of dance, the varied characters (the African pastor in particular), the witty wordplay, up-to-date comedy (loved the health and safety officers) and the use of audience participation." Charlie Hill, head of drama at Westminster Boys School, review of Much Ado About Nothing
