Aim

Help create 11,111 handmade poppies across Heanor and surrounding areas, with every poppy carrying a story.

Turn Heanor & Surrounding Areas Red — Every Poppy Tells a Story is a new community remembrance programme created by Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C.

Our aim is to bring individuals, families, schools, care homes, community groups, workplaces and local organisations together to create 11,111 handmade poppies.

Each poppy can carry a memory, dedication, message of thanks or positive community message. Together, they will form part of a wider programme of community displays, creative sessions and local Poppy Points across Heanor and surrounding areas.

People will be able to take part in different ways. They may make poppies independently, organise their own group session, invite Dreamscape to deliver a supported session, volunteer, donate suitable materials or host an approved display.

The programme is designed to be welcoming and accessible. No previous crafting experience is needed, and people can contribute one poppy or work towards a larger group pledge.

Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C. creates calm, inclusive opportunities for creativity, confidence, connection and belonging. Through this programme, we want to make Remembrance something that brings generations and communities together while ensuring every contribution feels meaningful.

Funds raised through approved campaign activities will be divided equally:

50% will be donated to the Royal British Legion.

50% will support Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C. in delivering the local programme.

Dreamscape’s share will help cover practical costs such as craft materials, community session supplies, printing, poppy numbering and record keeping, volunteer resources, display materials, storage, transport and the creation of accessible participation packs.

The Royal British Legion’s share will support its work with members of the Armed Forces community.

Our vision is to see handmade poppies appearing across Heanor and surrounding areas, each one connected to a person, a place or a story.

Whether someone creates one poppy at home, joins a local session or helps an entire organisation take part, every contribution will become part of something much larger.
