Aim

Our huge onslaught of volunteer organising helped deny the Tories a majority in 2017. We need your help to do it again.

Tactical voting can take this election from Boris Johnson. We are looking for £10,000 to upskill 10,000 door knocking, phone banking, and rallying volunteers to take 50 constituencies from the Conservative Party and hand them to Labour, the Liberal Democrats, SNP and Greens. 10,000 super-volunteers committing to 4 days of canvassing can help boot out Boris Johnson.

The future of the country will be decided by a small number of people in these 50 seats. By campaigning together we can win.

These are how our target seats breakdown:

 -39 seats for Labour

 -5 for Liberal Democrats

 -5 for the SNP

 -1 for the Greens

We got started during the 2017 election

In 2017, when Theresa May was confident she could increase her Parliamentary majority and force through a hard and hostile Brexit, we launched Campaign Together. With no money and just six weeks to go before the general election, delusional optimism helped us train and support over 2,000 people to canvas in marginals. Most of these people weren't members of political parties, and beyond shouting at the TV, many of them had never engaged in an election before. The result? An embarrassed Prime Minister with a diminished majority in Parliament.

This election, we're scaling up our canvassing

We want to do this again, but on a much bigger scale. We've set ourselves the target of canvassing in 50 marginal constituencies. These are places where even a few dozen extra campaigners going out door knocking, helping get people registered to vote and delivering leaflets could very easily swing the seat. With the result of the next election balanced on a knife edge, one thing is for certain: the fate of these marginal seats will determine which party forms the next government.

We're building tech infrastructure and recruiting volunteers

We are asking our group of super-committed volunteers to step up and do something extraordinary, to help change the Government. And we want to give them the tools to make that as easy as possible. WhatsApp and WordPress technology is helping us add new volunteers to local groups and support them to get out canvassing. We are also building cutting edge tech infrastructure to support our volunteers and to make it really easy to connect new sign ups with local groups. Another tier of paid organisers will mentor and support our super-volunteers and liaise with local political parties so that we can share their campaigning events with our groups.

How your money will help beat the Tories

The vast majority of our work is done voluntarily. People have donated everything from coding time, to design work, to phone banking, to 10000s of hours that our volunteer organisers have put in. However, in order to make all that effective there are a few things that we need to pay for:

1. Our dialler software

This will enable volunteers to ring and text round their local groups to get the maximum number of people out to events.

Each £10 pledged will pay for a volunteer to ring round 50 new sign ups to welcome them to the campaign.

Each £20 pledged will pay to send 500 reminder texts out.

2. Three paid organisers

Each paid organiser can give dedicated support to up to 20 super volunteers, who in turn will be getting hundreds of people active in their constituency. We have people beating a path to our door wanting to get out canvassing, but without professional organisers who can be on hand nearly 7 days a week for the election period, there will be inevitable bottlenecks that will limit our capacity.

It’s a nice problem to have! The Tories have millions of pounds from big money backers, but if we organise to our full potential they will not be able to compete with our people powered organisation.

We are looking for £9,000 to fund three organisers, so that we can support local groups in fifty constituencies and ensure that there is a constant flow of campaign events in the run up to December 12th.

This approach worked in 2017. It can work again.

We know this will work because it worked last time. We realised that 99% of the population are not active members of political parties, and therefore weren’t actively campaigning around election time. We also found out that sometimes local parties were quite inefficient about sharing campaign information out to their own members and potential supporters.

What we are doing this time is a scaled up, and better prepared version of what we managed to achieve in 2017. Last time we managed to train and support 2,000 people to canvas in their seats. This time we are aiming for 10,000. It is a formidable task, but by reproducing what worked in the best performing constituencies in 2017, we know that we can do it.

Let’s campaign together and Turf out the Tories for a better future.
