TUMBLE aims to improve accessibility for our disabled users and renewing carpet on our gymnasts floor which has become hazardous.
TUMBLE GYMNASTICS BACKGROUND
Founded by former Olympic gymnasts Craig Heap and Paula Thomas based in Newcastle. It is a Community Interest Company (CIC) and offers gymnastics and physical activities from babies to youth age gymnastic age gymnasts and disabilities. The centre has a variety of programmes including baby, sensory, pre-school, recreational gymnastics and disabilities, alongside amenities like the cafe and fitness suite
TUMBLE GYMNASTICS ACTIVITY CENTRE is a vibrant, family friendly run organisation in a caring community, that quickly became known as a gymnastics and activity centre for all. It was founded with a vision to bring families together in a safe and fun environment which provides a variety of fitness facilities for children and adults to exercise both physically and mentally all in the same place, building connections and friendships along the way.
Initially, the club started small with a lot of the work being done by ourselves, such as sectioning each area like the reception, office and toilet facilities. To increase the fun factor, we built a raised section to enable the gym to have a fast track, trampoline and pitted area. The dedication of the volunteers and coaches allowed the programme to flourish growing from two, pre-school children and five recreational children to over 2,000.00 in only a short time. Proving that heart and hard work can overcome the challenges such as material limitations a new business adventure can bring.
However, as the club and gymnasts have developed and we are now coming up to our sixth anniversary our need to replace some of our specialized and general upkeep of equipment and facilities is now required, with some needs becoming critical.
OVERLAY CARPET for FLOOR & PIT PROFILING
Our specialised equipment needing replaced is our main floor area which has a special type of floor covering that needs to have a thick foam backing , as you can imagine it is used constantly by children of various ages, it has served us well but sadly it's started to show some wear and tear and is now a tripping hazard. Our second specialised equipment is the pit profiling, which is on our raised Trampoline/Fastrack and pitted area. This area must be safe due to the nature of our sport. Padding only enhances safety by absorbing impact reducing the risk of any injury. These pads are valuable investment for creating a safe and enjoyable environment for our users improving their overall experience.
RESURFACE ENTRACE AREA for SAFER ACCESSABILITY
Our existing road surface leading to our fitness suit is covered with stone chippings which is perfectly fine for our abled bodied users but for our disabled users this can be quite a difficult terrain to manoeuvre, especially a wheelchair that is manual only. We would like to tarmac this area as this has been brought up by our disabled members. We have used a temporary surface in the past, but it's does not last long. This fitness suite is free of charge to our customers and would make it less of a hazard for our disabled members if only the pathway was more accessible.
TUMBLE is ready to embrace this challenge. We have set our target at £21174.80 to purchase the essential revitalisation to maintain our standard services. We hope to demonstrate the power of our community-driven fundraising, where some fundraising ideas turn into a significant achievement, enabling our gymnasts and fitness suite customers to "leap to new heights".
As we approach our sixth anniversary, critical maintenance is required
HOW YOUR DONATIONS WILL HELP TUMBLE
1. Estimates for the purchases required in our fundraiser:
> Worn Floor & Padding: The main floor specialised overlay carpet ( with think foam backing) and pit profiling (padded edges) on our raised trampoline/fast-track area are now worn, showing signs of damage and uneven surfaces - posing a tripping and injury hazard, particularly for children. Without replacement, risk of injury increases significantly.
> Accessibility Barrier: The current entrance pathway to our fitness suite is covered with stone chippings. This is manageable for most members, but is difficult or dangerous for wheelchair users, especially those relying on manual chairs. Several disabled members have highlighted the difficulty of manoeuvring along this path, which limits their access and compromises our commitment to inclusivity.
