T.S. Puma Minibus Appeal

Aim

Sutton Sea Cadets needs a minibus as it is vital to enable access activities such as boating and training and community events.

Who are we?

We're the Sutton Sea Cadets we've been a registered charity since 10th March 1967. We inspire young people to grow and thrive! We're proudly part of the bigger Sea Cadets family, which is an independent charity with a proud long-standing connection to the Royal Navy. Our main goal? Is helping our young people unlock their full potential – physically, mentally, and socially – so they can become confident, responsible citizens.

How do we do it? We offer fun, new friends, educational, and leisure activities, all with a nautical twist, guided by the principles of the Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC). We currently welcome young people from 9 to 18, and it's really exciting to see our numbers growing! 

We've jumped from 46 to 64 cadets since January 2025. We provide a diverse range of activities and training, both at our home in Wallington (SM6 7BE) and at other locations during weekends and holidays. Imagine getting involved in power boating, sailing, windsurfing, playing band, mastering seamanship, boosting your fitness with physical training, and developing truly incredible leadership skills! There's always something new and exciting for everyone to dive into.

Why are we crowdfunding?

A minibus will reduce our need for multiple cars transporting cadets and staff to events, reducing congestion and pollutants and time spent in traffic. Our previous minibus was not ULEZ compliant and subsequently scrapped in 2024. 

A minibus also provides a safe, warm shelter from the elements. A central place for cadets and staff to store food, hold and transport kit and equipment to and whilst at events.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will be used to purchase a minibus.  Additional funds raised will be targeted towards the purchase of boating, health and safety equipment.

Community impact

Cadets impact the wider community by nurturing them into responsible citizens through nautical-themed education and leisure activities. This benefits of cadets equips them with crucial life skills, fostering independence, confidence, and resilience to cope with challenges, which in turn prepares them for future careers and enhances their long-term happiness. 

The organisation extensively benefits adult volunteers, providing them with opportunities to gain nationally recognized training qualifications, enhance their own well-being and physical health, and contribute meaningfully to young people's lives.

We actively promote social inclusion, and the cultivation of active, well-rounded individuals who contribute to community cohesion, such as through participation in local events and supporting the armed forces community.
