City of Lights is a dazzling community project, which turns the city of Truro back into a village. This spectacular lantern parade takes place in mid November every year, and brings people from across the community and region together, to share in a unique creative experience.
Each year City of Lights encompasses a different theme. 2014 is the year for 'Heroes' inspired by the bravery and achievements of ordinary people placed in extraordinary circumstances, particularly in the First World War. The event is open to all; locals of Truro, people from the surrounding region and visitors from afar.
Why are we Crowdfunding?
City of Lights takes months of planning and fundraising, and in the current economic climate, it has become more and more challenging to source financial support. We have received amazing support from local businesses and other cultural organisations, but we still need help to make this happen.
If every one of the 25,000 people who attend City of Lights gave just £1 each, we would have enough funds to cover 90% of our costs, leaving us to fundraise for specialist support to help make the event bigger and better every year! Which is why, this year, we have decided to turn to you, the crowd, to help us raise funds to support this all important tradition in the Truro winter calendar.
Why is it so important?
Shared opportunities to participate in arts, culture and community activities can increase confidence, promote pride in place, raise aspirations and so impact positively on an individual’s life, community and future.
We need your support!!
Please help us to generate essential funds to ensure that we can continue to deliver this wonderful and inspiring tradition in this and future years by pledging for one of our exclusive Crowdfunder rewards
