To undertake major restoration works of the historic 129 year old timber pavilion and associated facilities of Trowbridge Cricket Club

by Trowbridge Cricket Club in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, United Kingdom

Who are we?

We are Trowbridge Cricket Club, a cornerstone of the local community offering year-round sporting and social opportunities to all. Alongside our thriving cricket club, we also host a wide variety of social events and sports teams including darts, pool and skittles leagues, as well as offering year-round access to our public bar and pavilion. Our pavilion is not a private members club, and is open to all to enjoy.

We are one of only a small handful of venues within the county to offer year-round membership-free access and are proud to support a huge number of individuals and families from across the local region.

Why are we crowdfunding?

For over 125 years we have provided unwaivering support for the local community, and now we are asking for your support to allow us to continue supporting the residents of Wiltshire for another 125 years and beyond.

Our crowdfunding initiative is first and foremost raising for the extensive restoration works required on our historic timber pavilion. Built in 1896/97, the County Ground Pavilion is a truly historic building and one of only a few remaining of it's design in the United Kingdom. While recognised as a building of historic significance, the building in unable to be officially listed meaning the majority of grants assigned to buildings of this age are inaccessible to us.

By completing the necessary restoration works to our pavilion and associated facilities, we will be able to not only ensure the future of this incredible building but also provide further opportunities to sport and social activites to be accessed by the local community.

As part of our restoration works, we will also be looking to take any and all opportunities to create a greener pavilion, utilising green technologies where appropriate.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Any funds raised will spent on our restoration works of the County Ground Pavilion. We have a wide range of projects ranging from small cosmetic upgrades (~£500+) up to major restorative timber replacement works (~£100k), so all funds will be allocated accordingly to the best value from the funds raised.

Should funds permit, we will also look to restore other associated facilities including, but not limited to, our car park and outfield facilities.

Community impact

The County Ground Pavilion at Trowbridge Cricket Club is utilised by all corners of the community, from our All Stars Cricket programme for budding 5-7 year old cricketers, to our social events and darts/pool/skittles leagues which see participants from all ages (from newborn to 90+!).

By completing these restorative works we will ensure the continuation of all of these great organisations, and ensure the survival of one of Trowbridge's most historic buildings.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target:

1. Make a pledge. Every penny donated will truly be appreciated by us all. Or if you want to make your donation a permanent piece of our historic pavilion, then you can purchase a named pledge which will see your name added to our pavilion walls for all eternity.

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. If you are unable to support financially, but could offer us something else as a reward then we'd love to hear from you. If you represent a local business who could donate a product/service for us to offer as a paid reward then please get in touch with us via email on [email protected]

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser, maybe a sponsored activity or similar, use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. We would love to have your support in our restoration quest!
