Hello Everyone!

Our aim is to publish beautifully illustrated childrens' books that educate and entertain, raise funds for charity and a warm glow for anyone who reads them.

About Trouble At The Zoo...

Trouble At The Zoo is the second children's book in The Adventures of Brunhilfer and Brunfin series of self-published children's book by registered charity The Brun Bear Foundation. Through beautiful illustration and subtle humour the books aim to promote the very universal values of community, inclusiveness and being true to yourself.

Trouble At The Zoo has a cross-generational appeal: very young children will be drawn in by the illustrations, older children will enjoy reading the book for themselves and adults will appreciate the gentle tone, positive messages and warm humour.

Charitable Commitment...

Every sale of every book will benefit a mix of communal projects in South East London, infant/children's medical research projects in the UK and beyond and animal welfare projects globally - with special emphasis on bears.

Our Get One, Give One scheme...

We are inviting supporters to Get One, Give One. This means purchasing a copy of Trouble At The Zoo! for yourself and one for

*A baby born at Lewisham Hospital during December or a family being supported by registered charity Bromley Brighter Beginnings.

*Bromely Brighter Beginnings' wonderful work includes ensuring that all children have the brightest of beginnings by meeting the needs of those that would otherwise not have a decent bed, clothing, provisions, a school uniform or access to books and toys. They do this work sensitively and discreetly.

How did The Brun Bear Foundation come into being?

It all began with two bears...

The Brun Bear Foundation was established in 2015 by Edwin Lampert in memory of his father.

Sadly, Edwin's Dad had Brain Cancer. The radiotherapy his father went through resulted in his father believing that the family lived with two kindly bears called Brunhilfer and Brunfin.

Edwin's Dad - who had good insight into his condition - asked his son to look after his bears for him "when the time came."

When his Dad died in 2014 Edwin set about creating a charitable foundation as way of honouring his father's memory and values as well as supporting causes he had held dear: medical research, community projects in the London Boroughs of Bromley and Lewisham, and animal welfare - with special emphasis on bears.

And so The Brun Bear Foundation was born. It's name deriving from the name of his father's two bears: Brunhilfer and Brunfin.

Edwin's first act was to write a children's book called The Flood! about two kindly bears who lived with a kindly man and his wife. All proceeds from book sales go to The Foundation. Russian, German and French translations have been prepared. The second book - Trouble At The Zoo! - is now here.

Edwin subsequently added community events, supper clubs, scholarship programmes and an annual epic charity challenge to The Brun Bear Foundation's activities.

Projects we have been able to support include:

  • Research into better and kinder treatments for children with Leukaemia
  • Funding for a Community Fit Bus
  • More than 8,000 Wellbeing Wallets for expectant mothers at Lewisham Hospital and Princess Royal.
  • Provision of food and medical supplies for bears as well as CCTV at a sanctuary that keeps the bears in and the poachers out
  • The founding and financing of The Simon Shades Scholarship Programme for young people moving in to higher and further education.
  • Theatre experiences for every child under five in Lewisham
  • An incubator for a hospital in Uganda.

The Brun Bear Foundation is led by a team of volunteers who work hard to support the charity's chosen causes, uphold its inclusive ethos and maybe, in some small way, help Edwin look after his father's bears too.

How else can I help?
