Hedgehogs need accommodation as well as humans so creating our Hedgehog Hovel Homes are a great way to encourage them into garden spaces.

We love Stoke-on-Trent's pottery and industrial heritage. We also respect nature and the local environment so our recycling volunteers have come up with an ingenious way of celebrating all three.
Back in the heyday of the pottery industry, there were up to 2,000 bottle kilns throughout the City of Stoke-on-Trent. The Clean Air Act of 1956 saw the beginning of the end for these coal fired ovens as the local factories turned to gas & electricity.

Today, less than 50 kilns remain standing across the city & they are all listed buildings. Some of them have been restored whereas others are in very poor condition. However, they still remain part of our rich culture and heritage.

Projects from Pallets CIC are selling these hedgehog hovel homes (Triple H) to families, schools, youth organisations, community groups, charities and rescue centres and the more money we raise the more carbon emissions are saved locally through our recycling project. We are sure these creatures will enjoy crawling through our bottle kiln entrances to their new home and equally, onlookers will love this image too.

Triple H, our NEW Hedgehog Hovel Homes project, not only provides a safe place for our prickly garden friends, it gives our volunteers with free time on their hands a purposeful activity to get stuck into while reducing carbon emissions as the homes are made from recycled material too.
The pallet wood is resourced from reputable businesses (non-chemical or food distributors). The entrance has a 15 inch circumference, is compliant and safe for hedgehogs with the timber being kiln dried and harmful resins removed. The inside of the home is left untreated while the outside is coated with a low VOC content protective oil to guard against the elements. Sizes: 45cm x 45cm x 23cm.

Help our team of recyclers to celebrate Stoke-on-Trent's pottery and industrial heritage while taking care of the local environment and helping nature.
