Why Tring Radio?
A local radio station is a brilliant way of bringing the community together. It’s a great outlet for the promotion of local music, large and small independent businesses and material that wouldn’t otherwise get radio airplay. It’s a fabulous resource for the community, exploring issues that affect local people and giving everyone an equal chance to express their views, criticisms and support. Local independent radio is often the only way that ordinary people with little or no experience of the broadcast media can find a way into broadcasting and at Tring Radio we want to offer people the opportunity to do just that.
For the last 15 months, our lovely volunteer presenters have been presenting from their own homes. We now want to move Tring Radio to the next level with a dedicated studio, which will open up so many more opportunities for us to support, inform and entertain and will give us a base right in the heart of the community. It will be a place where people can come to learn about presenting, editing and radio production as well as a base for local organisations, schools and community projects to come to tell their stories on air. We can only achieve this with your help!
Our mission:
What have we already achieved?
In 2020 we raised money for Dens which was given to the local foodbank. Tring Radio were instrumental in setting up the Community Radio Christmas Toy Box appeal which collected over 4,200 toys for several local charities. We also allowed Chilfest to take over Tring Radio and broadcast their 2020 festival on air, as well as presenting the Christmas Eve carol concert on behalf of the Tring Lions.
Our talk show presenters have interviewed so many local independent business owners that we have lost count, giving them the opportunity to tell their story and supporting them throughout the pandemic. We have welcomed pupils from local schools, the Tring Mayor, local charities and organisations and many ordinary people onto the airwaves, who wouldn't normally get the chance, to tell their stories and get their messages heard.
We have offered presenter opportunities to many local people who would otherwise never have had the chance to entertain people by sharing the knowledge of the music they love and welcoming them as part of the Tring Radio team of volunteers.
What do you get?
As well as that warm feeling of happiness when you help someone, you can choose from some unique rewards that you can't get anywhere else!
Our promise to you...
Your contribution, however small, will make a real difference to us and will go towards enabling Tring Radio to become a legacy for the community and the surrounding area. We are a non-profit radio station, so all the money we raise goes straight back into the station, paying for our ongoing running and licence costs and equipment.
Radio keeps people together and keeps us in touch with each other and our community!
