Trekking for Alzheimer's Society to fund ground breaking research and working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
I am trekking 13 miles along Northern Ireland's dramatic coastline as part of Trek26 for Alzheimer's Society.
I know, first hand, how devasting dementia can be after losing my mum to this dreadful disease in Jan 2024. The slow decline that dementia causes truly is heart breaking, as day by day you watch as you loved one slowly slips away.
My mum and dad were together for 72 years and watching my dad slowly lose the love of his life has been really tough. From the endless nights helping to keep them together at home, to the heart wrenching decision to put my mum into a care home, the emotional roller coaster is absolutely exhausting. The ripple effect across the whole family when caring for someone with Alzheimer's is devastating.
Alzheimer's Society continue to support all those living with dementia, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground breaking research.
Please support where you can, no matter how small.
