Transparency is a solo theatre show about growing up northern working class and trans. We are raising money to produce a film version.
While touring solo theatre show Transparency, we have had so many amazing conversations, great feedback and reviews. After the show people always ask us whether this is available as a film. We would love to do that so that people in locations we wont go to can see it, and also for it to be available for communities, organisations and groups that want to increase understanding and open up a new conversation. Having self funded this project so far we are now asking for your help to make that happen!

The show was written by Jaden Adams, and he plays 5 different characters around the experience of a young working class trans male, including the mum, dad, nan and a curious workmate. Through these different perspectives we get to explore some of the issues that come up in a way that's raw, honest and human, and opens up a different kind of conversation. We have had so many touching and open interactions with trans people, their family and friends, allies and also people who are gender critical or do not share our views. We have seen the power of this piece and would love more people to have the chance to see it.

We have put on around 20 performances in small theatres and community venues, all self funded. It is not sustainable financially to keep touring, but we would love more people to see it, especially people who don't normally go to the theatre. By making a film version we can offer online performances with a live Q&A on zoom so that more people can see it. We also want to create a workshop package for communities, colleges, schools and institutions.
£3000 will cover the costs for filming, editing, venue and marketing for the project. If we raise more we can create versions for different contexts and also add subtitles and/or BSL signing.
With your help we can keep changing the conversation around gender identity, developing more understanding of the issues that working class trans people face, and bridging the divide between us.
Please contribute what you can. Thank you so much for your support, it means so much to us that we can make this happen together :) x
