To publish this “beautiful and inspiring” book and to share 60 years of photography, thought and the love of light and beauty, with others.
Robert Golden is an American, and eventually British, award winning photographer and film maker, who has lived more of his life in England than in his country of birth.
Throughout his life he has fought for social justice as part of the anti-Vietnam War and Civil Rights movements and in Alabama, where he, with other students, defended Dr. Martin Luther King from the Klu Klux Klan. In the UK, he became part of the anti-Nazi and Anti-Racist movements. His whole life since has been one of commitment to artistic and social activism through photography, film, writing, teaching and as a mentor, in particular to young people.
Robert photographed the demise of the British working class in the 70's, and the lives of the post Windward Rush generation of West Indian communities across the England.
His photographs have been exhibited in many major galleries in England. Robert has lived in Bridport, West Dorset, England for more than 20 years.

Jules Pretty, Professor of Environment and Society at the University of Essex describes Robert's new book.
“Transient Light, Fleeting Time is a beautiful and wise book full of hope. It is a timely reminder of the combined power of story and image. Robert Golden uniquely seizes the world, and then presents us with many paths through the dark forest."
Why Crowdfund?
There are many reasons:
•It's almost impossible to get anything published by established publishing companies.
•Online printing is of poor quality.
•Hope in wanting to produce something beautiful, independently, of the highest quality with the support of a local and global community.
What is the Aim of the Campaign?
The aim of this campaign is to raise sufficient funds to reproduce 300 copies of the highest quality hard back books, to be printed by Creeds, an established high quality Dorset family printers founded over 65 years ago. Some of these books will be gifts, some will be sent to art galleries and collections, some to schools, libraries and universities, and of course copies to the community that helps to ensure that the book lives in the real world, not just virtually. The book will also be available from The Book Shop, an independent book shop in Bridport, West Dorset. https://www.dorsetbooks.com/
How Much?
Everyone who donates £20.00 to the Crowfunder will receive a signed copy of the book, which includes postage and packing. This is a third off what will be the published book price of £30.00.
For those who would like to help further with £100.00, there will be a signed book plus an A3 original hand printed photograph by Robert.
From Michael Freeman, one of the most widely published photographers worldwide
“Rare among photographers of this stature, Robert Golden elegantly articulates the real and fundamental concerns that we face in deciding what to photograph, how to engage and what we’re using our skills for. Impressively, he stays grounded as he writes, helped by a near-faultless selection of photographs drawn from his long career.” Michael Freeman, one of the most widely published photographers worldwide
