Help fund specialist hydrotherapy sessions at Martin House so children and families can enjoy precious moments together in the water
Every donation to this campaign will be kindly matched by the Mortgage Advice Bureau Foundation at a ratio of 3:1 up to £5,000, meaning your gift has four times the impact.
£5,000 will fund 20 hydrotherapy sessions for children with complex conditions. Your donation will mean families can experience the joy of swimming together – something many of us take for granted.
For children and young people with complex conditions, hydrotherapy has a significant impact on health and wellbeing. Accessible, warm and adapted facilities are so important because standard public swimming pools are not equipped to meet the needs of the children and young people cared for by Martin House.
For families of children with complex medical needs, something as simple as going swimming together can be incredibly difficult. Around a third of the families we care for have never been able to take their child into a swimming pool due to their medical condition and the life-sustaining equipment they need. We’ve listened to families and put them at the heart of what we do. We recognise and understand the barriers families face daily, at Martin House, we break down the barriers – the addition of the brand new hydrotherapy pool has been described as “exciting, invaluable and so much fun!”
Hydrotherapy at Martin House
For almost 40 years, Martin House has been at the forefront of children’s palliative care in the UK, with an expert team dedicated to delivering the best possible care to babies, children and young people in Yorkshire. Medical advancements mean that children are living with more complex conditions.
In June 2026, we completed a once in a generation redevelopment project transforming our facilities to bring our building in-line with the outstanding care our specialist teams provide for the families who rely on us.
The much-anticipated hydrotherapy suite has been purpose-built to provide a safe, warm and welcoming environment, with accessible changing facilities, integrated hoists, specialist sensory equipment, therapeutically heated water and sessions facilitated by expert clinical specialists.
For the families we care for, the pool also offers precious time together making memories.
One Martin House mum told us:
"The hydrotherapy pool will be the only place where I'll be able to hold my son and hug him without all the equipment that usually comes between us."
For many parents, it will be the first time they have ever been able to get into the water with their child. Brothers and sisters can splash, play and make precious memories together.
Why we need your help
We need your support to fund hydrotherapy sessions, so families can make the most of the benefits hydrotherapy provides.
Your donation will help fund:
Together, we can make sure our new hydrotherapy pool gives children and families more than therapy — it gives them comfort, laughter and precious memories.
Thank you for helping make every moment count.
