Help us upgrade our kitchen, bar and seating areas so we can improve our workflow, seat more people and open for evening dining.
We are James and Bianca Stephenson of Dudley's, a café-restaurant in Walthamstow that uses locally roasted coffee and local produce. We opened our doors on Wood Street in March 2019 with a small budget and the dream of bringing people together through food and music.
Though plenty of unexpected hardship came out of the last 3 years, we managed to keep our small business and second home alive. During lockdown, we opened a private garden space so we could continue serving our coffee and brunch outside. Today, we're proud to also host yoga sessions, sound healings and our lively food pop-up and vinyl DJ event series On Rotate.
However, as our first business, we have experienced some major growing pains. Our kitchen is less than 2 square metres and barely fits one chef. Our equipment often breaks or short circuits. Our floorplan flows traffic very inefficiently. As a result, on a busy weekend our speed of service doesn't match up to how hard our staff work and how much we love doing what we do.
So we've gotten new designs drawn and we've closed our doors to get the building work done. We just need a little bit of extra help to get us over the finish line.
Your support will help us buy new equipment such as hobs, fridges, an oven and extraction fan. A redesigned space also means more seats, more menu options, more efficient service and a refurbished bathroom with a baby changer!
Finally, we know Wood Street has been crying out for an evening dining scene so when the work is done we're excited to have you for dinner and drinks.
We've set up some fun rewards as a thank you. You can find them in the sidebar and for some rewards, below for more information.
The private party will have music by Mr James, the moniker from which James DJs under. He is a world disco record collector and has played at Lost Village Festival, Secret Garden Party, Night Tales and The Cause.
The soundbaths are a full hour hosted by Really Nice Sounds, the moniker from which James and Bianca do sound healings. It is an ancient Chinese practice that uses the frequencies of special instruments to bring guests into deep meditative states.
The tote bags are an option of our two classic designs:

The painting refers to this large scale stretched canvas painting by Bianca that has lived in the back room at Dudley's for years:

The limited edition t-shirt design is below. It will be printed on white medium to heavy weight organic cotton t-shirts. Sizing is unisex
