ASP is transforming for the future so we can better serve, connect, educate and inspire our members, supporting them to create greater impact for a sustainable and thriving future.

The Association of Sustainability Practitioners has been evolving since it was established more than twenty years ago. We began as a not-for-profit organisation, before Community Interest Companies existed, and we continue to support a global community through pay-it-forward schemes, donation-based events and collaborative community initiatives.

Our purpose is to connect, challenge and support sustainability practitioners as we strive towards a thriving future for all life.

For most of ASP’s history, volunteers have maintained the organisation and supported its community network. Membership fees, which are often waived for people experiencing financial difficulty or living in lower-income economies, have covered our essential systems and basic operating costs.

Our work has included collaborations with the Humber Eco Fest, The Story Gathering, Content Rising, and our action-learning Earth Conversations series. We are contributing to the Rivers Summit and Festival in September to talk Rivers and Flowscapes: from poetry to policy. In November we will be gathering in person again at the UK's National Forest, ensuring our members and wider community can connect in this inspiring, natural setting. 

We have recently completed a Three Horizons process, a transformation framework that helped us explore what our community needs now and what ASP must become to support its future.

The direction is clear, but we need stronger foundations to make it possible.

This includes improving communication and collaboration between members, bringing together ASP’s archive of learning, developing our education offer and making sure that a growing diversity of voices can participate in forming our work.

This fundraiser is an invitation to help us move from strategy into implementation.

Your contribution will help us to:

• Develop a single online space where members can gather, communicate and build collaborations.
• Pay community members for the time they contribute to coordination and essential administrative work.
• Update our website and create an accessible home for ASP’s learning archive.
• Develop new chances for exploration, education and alliance.

Longer term, we want ASP to create a positive rumour, a reputation that grows naturally through our work, our relationships and the impact we make.

Like good soil, ASP is here to prepare the ground for safe experimentation, honest reflection and the next generation of sustainable practice.

Our values are rooted in Ubuntu, the Children’s Fire, action learning and appreciative inquiry. We welcome members whose values resonate with ours and invite contributions from different disciplines, backgrounds and places.
