If we somehow manage to exceed our target, the extra funds will go straight into the team to acquire new equipment and opportunities in order to develop the football and social skills as well as the general wellbeing of the children who have managed incredibly well with the effects of the lockdown.
My name is Pete Martin and I help to coach the Histon Hornets U7 along with Luke Clough on a purely voluntary basis and we're currently entering our first competitive year with a great group of 9 kids.
Unfortunately, the global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for so many grassroots clubs and we are no different.
Although we have worked hard and managed to obtain some amazing sponsorship for various aspects that we needed, the main cost that the team will incur is for training facilities.
Usually, this is funded via the club's 5-a-side tournament that attracts in the region of 170 teams across East Anglia, 2,500-3,000 people in total and it provides the stream of funding that helps all teams with training facilities throughout winter. Due to COVID-19, the tournament had to be cancelled meaning this funding route is not available for at least the 2020/21 season leaving us with an approximate shortfall of £500, a cost that we just can't cover on our own.
We will be looking to run some fundraising events when it is safe to do so but in the meantime we are desperately hoping that people may be able to donate any amount that they possibly can afford. We recognise that we are asking at an extremely tough time so just sharing the link would be fantastic. If you are a company then we would gladly display your logo on our website.
This is a route that we were desperate to avoid but without it, the kids wouldn't be able to train and we may have to withdraw from the league altogether so if you could possibly help out the Histon Hornets U7 with any amount at all, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading and sharing.
Pete and Luke.
