To raise funds for the Tour de Lunsar 2025 - a race like no other.

Project by Sierra Leone Cycling Foundation

Why do we need funding

The huge turbulence in the cycling industry at large has made it exceedingly difficult to retain existing sponsors and engage new ones, and for the second year running a significant cycling industry sponsor has pulled out at late notice.

Every year we continue to grow develop racing and participation across the country. As the biggest race in the country, the one of a kind Tour de Lunsar is the core event in the national and regional racing calendar.

National governing bodies are either unwilling or unable to support the sport of cycling financially in Sierra Leone. This severely limits any chance for developing the sport without support from individuals, companies and sponsorship.

Why your support matters

We’re seeing positive change and development. In 2024, the first ever Sierra Leonean athlete attended the UCI’s World Cycling Centre. His application was enhanced by his results at the TDL. The work we are doing is beginning to move the needle, and we must not allow it to slip.

Support of our fundraiser in 2024 led directly to a new title sponsor, Fundsmith, who has guaranteed the 2025 race can go ahead. We currently have a £5,000 shortfall in our budget for the 2025 event.

We will be launching a host of fundraising initiatives in the run-up to the race, but we cannot hope to reach the target without the direct financial support of cycling fans around the world. Your support will allow us to organise and bring a bigger, faster, more professional race to Sierra Leone and build a culture of cycling and racing in Sierra Leone.
