Who We Are
Tonic is a Brighton-based social group created by four friends who wanted a space where gay men and those who identify with gay male culture can socialise without the pressure of alcohol or drugs. Since then, Tonic has grown to 190 members, offering regular events like coffee mornings, monthly roasts, sober dance nights, and sports activities. We welcome anyone interested in sober socialising, whether they’re in recovery, never drank, or simply prefer a sober lifestyle.
Why We’re Raising Funds
Participating in the Brighton Pride Parade is a highlight of our year. For the past two years, our float has brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of dancing to the parade route—showing the world that sober doesn’t mean boring! Last year, our Pride float helped us welcome 50 new members who saw us and wanted to get involved.
This year, we want to make our float even more spectacular! The money we raise will go towards:
• Designing and decorating the float with vibrant colours and eye-catching visuals.
• Music equipment to keep the party atmosphere going as we parade through the city.
• Costumes and props that showcase our fun and playful spirit.
• Safety and logistics costs to ensure we meet all event regulations.
Our Vision
Our goal is to create a float that’s bursting with energy, laughter, and pride—showing that the gay community includes spaces where people can connect, have fun, and feel supported without alcohol. By being loud, proud, and visible at Pride, we hope to break down the stereotype that socialising in the gay scene has to involve drinking. We want people to see us, hear us, and know they’re not alone.
